College in the Schools

The College in the Schools (CIS) program is available at Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) for French, German and Spanish at levels 4 and 5. The EPHS teachers of these classes are trained in University coursework. Students take the classes at EPHS and receive college credit at colleges that accept the program. Since this is a Minnesota program, the University of Minnesota and all members of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) system accept the credits.

More CIS programs may be available in the future, with funding from the state for expansion into math and science areas.

Students can get more information about the program from their counselors. The Career Resource Center has information on whether credits are accepted or not (and, if so, to what extent) at a number of individual colleges. Some colleges will accept a maximum number of CIS credits or accept them only if the student earns a specific grade or better.
