Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity at EPHS is a student chapter of an international organization. At these meetings members sign up for the week's housing date. A housing date happens roughly every other Saturday and goes from about 8 am to 3 pm. The group will go to a Habitat site somewhere around the Twin Cities and work on whatever project is being done at the time. Groups have done gardening, painting, demolishing, installing floors, and everything in between. No member is required to attend any housing dates, but all members are welcome. In addition, the EPHS chapter organizes fundraisers to raise money which are then given to the Twin Cities Headquarters. Every year Habitat holds the Coffee House at Immanuel Lutheran Church where local bands play and students pay admission to listen, hang-out, dance, talk, and eat free food! The group also goes caroling and projects around the house. Being a part of Habitat is a fun way to meet new people and do meaningful volunteer work. However, unlike many clubs at the high school Habitat provides an opportunity to get involved with an organization that one could be a part of for the rest of one's life. 2006-07 - Meetings are held every other Thursday at 7:30 am in the Student Activities Classroom. The club might have a snow football game in 2006, and for the first time in many years Habitat is planning a Spring Break trip to a warm destination somewhere inside the US where they will be able to build an entire house in one week.
