Classes

AoPS offers online subject classes on number theory, counting and probability, geometry, intermediate algebra, and intermediate trigonometry. There are pretests and post-tests to guide you in course selection and help you sample content. The length of a class can vary from 8 weeks for Intermediate Number Theory to 18 weeks for Geometry, with most classes spanning 12 weeks. Problem series classes are also available to provide preparation for MathCounts, AMC, and AIME competition.

Math Jams

Math Jams are free online classes on a variety of subjects, such as:

  • review of a major math contest like the AMC-10 or AMC-12
  • discussion of a summer opportunity such as Mathcamp
  • information about the mathematical offerings of a college like MIT
  • problem-solving in a particular area of math at a particular level (such as Logic for students in grades 4-8)

Textbooks and Contest Prep

AoPS offers its own textbooks on many different subjects, as well as contest preparation materials for MOEMS (Math Olympiads in Elementary and Middle School; grades 4-8), MathCounts (grades 6-8), AMC (American Mathematics Competitions; grades 6-12), the AP Calculus test, and more. WOOT - Worldwide Online Olympiad Training

This 7-month program is intended to prepare the top high school students in the United States for a national competition such as the USA Mathematical Olympiad. There are numerous formal problem-solving classes, complete with a classroom message board to share thoughts and difficulties, practice tests, problem sets, and 24-hour classroom access. The instructors have all won numerous math competitions at a high level. Students who are capable of consistently scoring 5 or higher on the AIME exam are encouraged to sign up for WOOT. Previous participants in the Math Olympiad Summer Program are offered free tuition through the D. E. Shaw group. Registration for this class ends in mid September. The class begins then and continues to mid-April.
